...that Daniss opened a portal to the Abyss in the middle of the road. Then proceeded to basically pass off blame using the "He who smelt it, dealt it" method.

lol, one of the best moments ever, although fight with Balor was unfair- he used unnatural ability "Laggggg wave" that killed us all. Still, was awesome.

and Leal had to close it, lucky she was already jaded to begin with so she didn't care who opened it at that point, she just wanted the damned thing closed.

Frankly, I think we can all agree that it was Pel's fault. I mean, if he had just gotten a better Spot roll Daniss wouldn't have been forced to Sleight of Hand the scroll away from him and none of this would have happened. So you can plainly see, Daniss is clearly the victim here and we should all give her cookies and love to make her feel better.

This is one of those cases where I think that if more players thought like I do as A player not as A character, that the DM's would have trouble. Not that I am adverse to bad actions, in nearly every event I was in I told the DM that if Leal died, and the DM wanted permadeath, I was fine with it. It just built the story *unlike PVP, but that is another debate*. As much as Leal growled, grumbled, and hissed through her teeth at the stupidity of the actions of the adventurer class, they gave her a lot to do.
In events like this one, the stack is against you. That is good, even if Pel made his spot roll, I am sure something would have gone wrong, or would have been manufactured to do so. It is a shame Spiral did not stick it out but left when his/her new character didn't get the reaction that he/she hoped for, and instead was met with silly forum comments.

It was fun. Fighting an actual Balor though i think would be much more harder than in pnp (He flies, has ability to summon other balors and all that nasty stuff), but Torgar did what he thought was best- fought till the last. If my char dies durring something and nobody raises it or something then he dies, short ball. I was reminding it on ocasions. It's all for the story after all and adventurers aren't immortal beings or chosen of the gods- many adventurers die from many diffrent reasons. That's my opinion at least. Anyway, he did could perma-dead us, because hey! IT'S A BLOODY BALOR!
